This appeal to support the work on 'Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in Humanitarian Crises' is in line with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies' commitment to prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in disasters and other emergencies as outlined in the 32nd International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement Resolution (32IC/15/R3) on "Sexual and gender-based violence: Joint action on prevention and response" adopted in 2015.

Shukria was married off at just 9 years old. The wedding was arranged to settle a debt her family owed to a 50-year-old man. “He told my father he would forget the debt and give even more money if he could take me as his bride. So that is how I got married,” Shukria recounted.

SHABWAH, Yemen - The nearly year-old conflict in Yemen has now embroiled 21 of the country's 22 governorates, civilian casualties are increasingly common, food is in short supply and many hospitals, police stations and other institutions essential for protecting and caring for the population, especially women and girls, have been forced to shut their doors.
