Commission on the Status of Women, Sixtieth Session
The sixtieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) — the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women — will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 14 to 24 March 2016. Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will attend the session.

A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the CSW was established by Council resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946. The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.
