To meet the needs of the roughly 2,000 displaced women and girls of reproductive age in and around Marawi, UNFPA is supporting 25 medical missions that provide reproductive health information and services. The initiative is a partnership with the Government and receives funding from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund.

Escalating violence in Hodeidah, Yemen, threatens the city's estimated 90,000 pregnant women and girls, UNFPA has announced. Some 14,000 of these women and girls are likely to encounter pregnancy-related complications requiring emergency care, but access to health services has been severely limited by the ongoing crisis.
DAMASCUS, Syria - Ruqayya was pregnant when she fled the embattled city of Deir ez-Zor, in north-eastern Syria, with her husband and two young children. The family took refuge in Al-Areesheh camp, in Al-Hasakah Governorate - but Ruqayya's ordeal was not yet over.
KACHIN STATE, Myanmar - Since the armed conflict in northern Myanmar's Kachin State intensified in December, nearly 7,000 people have fled the area, often amid shelling and airstrikes. Among the people on the run are 260 pregnant women. Many of them are sleeping on the roadside, unable to find shelter.
MADRID - The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today welcomed a €700,000 contribution from the Government of Spain to support the health and nutritional status of pregnant and breastfeeding women in warn-torn Syria. NABATIEH, Lebanon - In late 2013, Haneen, now 14, fled Syria with her parents and 10 siblings. As her family made its way to the Turkish border, her father sustained injuries that left him paralyzed. Fearing he could no longer feed his 11 children or protect his daughters, he married Haneen, then 13, off to a middle-aged Turkish man.
